It is aimed at managers, supervisors, HSE champions, union representatives and aspiring health and safety practitioners.

Jointly developed by NEBOSH and the UK's Health and Safety Regulator, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), this qualification shows how non-complex incidents can be investigated effectively.

  • Course Details

    Education Level: Level 3 | Hours of Study: 10 + Assessment | Tuition Period: 6 months

  • Course Content

    The NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation consists of one unit which must be successfully completed within six months to achieve the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation. The course covers:

    • Moral, legal and financial arguments for investigations
    • Human and organisational factors
    • Investigating accidents and incidents
    • Positive strategies and the barriers to successful interviews
  • Entry Requirements

    There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but’ it is recommended that learners should already have an underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues, and many will have gained another NEBOSH qualification. 

    It is also important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.

    NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

    Learners wishing to assess their own language expertise may consult the IELTS website for information on taking the test. Your chosen Learning Partner may also be able to recommend a method of pre-learning assessment of language. 

  • Assessment Details

    The course is assessed by a one-hour evidence based action plan activity which is undertaken during the course. 

    The assessment can be completed online, there is no need to attend an exam centre.

    What is the difference between Online, Live Online, e-Learning and Distance Learning?

    Live Online is delivered in real time through Zoom and is very similar to a classroom course. The tutor will deliver the course with breaks to allow time for group work, exercises, and private study.

    Online & elearning are just different words for the same thing, and mean a flexible, self study course delivery with tutor support that can be accessed via email. Distance Learning, means learning at a distance but is commonly used to describe the more traditional paper based study, RRC do provide the complete study text which you can download and study off line thus giving you the option of how you study the course.

    Do I have to pay VAT if I am based outside of the UK?
    Only companies outside of the UK who can provide a valid VAT number will be exempt from VAT. All individuals irrespective of their location will have to pay VAT.
