As a GradIOSH, I believe it is important to participate in regular CPD activities. In 2016 I decided to focus my learning on completing the NEBOSH National Fire Certificate. Following extensive searches for course providers on the internet, RRC stood out amongst the crowd.

The course content was very comprehensive and made easy reading. The exam skills and question & answer sessions confirmed learning on a step-by-step basis and greatly assisted with my exam preparation, and how to structure my answers in accordance to the NEBOSH command words. I found the key information, hints and tips, and topic focus sections particularly helpful. The information in the Practical Application section at the end of the book proved to be particularly helpful when preparing for the FC2 exam.

In addition to the online content, I also received a hard copy of the text in the form of an RRC course workbook included in the price which was great value for money. Although I didn't require the assistance of a tutor it was reassuring to know that they were there should I have needed them.

As exam day loomed ever closer I decided to purchase the online Revision Guide which proved to be an excellent pre exam knowledge checker. So impressed with the content and layout of the National Fire Certificate study material and as part of my ongoing development I have purchased the RRC Construction Certificate books as a quick reference guide.

2017 brings new challenges and perhaps a new course as part of my CPD ,but with so many courses available on the RRC website it’s proving hard to decide on what’s next...perhaps the National Diploma in Environmental Management!

A few months ago I moved from Shell Lubricants Plant in Russia and joined the HSSE team in Shell Qatar. In my current role I am responsible for the safe delivery of brownfield capital projects on the largest GTL (Gas-to-Liquid) plant in the world – Shell Pearl GTL plant.

I heard about NEBOSH in 2009, when I was working in the UAE as a Deputy HSE Manager for a gas pipeline project. I had a chance to study the NEBOSH IGC in Abu Dhabi. At that time, I decided to continue with studying NEBOSH courses.

In 2014, I got approval to study the NEBOSH Diploma. I decide to go for classroom study with RRC, as I already had colleagues on the course. When I joined the 1^st course in autumn 2014, I was the only Russian student among other students, who mostly were from UK. Sometimes I was struggling to understand conversations between them as they had different local dialects. But I had no such issues with the tutors at all. They were really professional, and had very rich professional and life experience. It was always a pleasure to have conversations, challenge them, and ask difficult questions.

The two years I spent with RRC have been really great. Always a friendly atmosphere in the classroom – a very good training organisation. If I have another chance to study, I will definitely choose RRC.

I studied for the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with RRC by e-learning. Opting for this study method allowed me to gain a qualification with prestige and recognition, whilst maintaining my responsibilities as co-Director of a risk management consultancy, working throughout. 

The online platform was easy to use, engaging and accessible at my own convenience. Any matters raised with Customer Services were dealt with promptly and I particularly liked the ability to download course books, enabling offline access too.

I would highly recommend e-learning to anyone looking for an alternative to traditional classroom-based education. It is a challenging process that tests your discipline and willpower but it offers unrivalled flexibility and is absolutely worth it.
