RRC's NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals Course (2023)

Helping You Make Work Safer and More Sustainable

Can I transfer from the 2015 Diploma onto the 2023 Syllabus?

There are no transitional arrangements so unit passes cannot be transferred. If you would like to transfer to the new syllabus, please contact us for more information.

If you have already passed Units on the current specification it is probably better to remain on the 2015 syllabus. NEBOSH will be offering exams until 2026 (Last Unit IA, IB & IC exams July 2026, last Unit DNI submission date is May 2026 ) and RRC will continue to support our Learners until then.

How do the assessments work?

The assessment is undertaken at home and in your workplace so there is no requirement to attend an exam centre. NEBOSH will issue the assessments twice a year for each unit which you will need to complete and return to them. For Unit DI1 NEBOSH are estimating it will take 40 hours to complete and are allowing 4 weeks for Learners to complete and submit the assignment. For DI2 & DI3 NEBOSH are estimating it will take 20 hours to complete and are allowing 2 weeks.

  • Units DI1 is assessed by an assignment (in four parts - simulations, workplace based activities, reflective tasks and a research project). Part of the assessment will require learners to undertake some workplace-based activities so need to ensure that they select a suitable workplace/organisation.
  • Units DI2 & DI3 will be assessed by a case study (simulation only)

How long does the Course take to complete?

NEBOSH advises that it will take approximately 409 hours to complete the course and assessments, see below for a more detailed breakdown.

For Classroom and Live Online courses this equates to 30 days taught (10 for each unit), plus self study and the assessments.

The assessments are structured so that it is possible to complete the course in 12 months, but given other demands on most people's time we would expect 18 to 30 months to successfully complete. Please be aware that if you select assessment dates for all 3 modules upon enrolment, you will only have 24 months to successfully complete all 3 assessments. If you select assessment dates for each unit one at a time, you will have 24 months for each unit up to a maximum of 5 years to fully complete the course from the first assessment passed.

What are the Entry Requirements for the NEBOSH Diploma?

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements, the Diploma builds on the knowledge gained at Certificate level. This is not taught in the Diploma but will form part of the assessments, so you really need to have studied the NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level course before starting the Diploma. All RRC courses will include resources to refresh your knowledge on the Certificate but this is unlikely to be sufficient if you have not studied the course previously.

The Diploma is only available in English language and NEBOSH recommends the minimum standards of English as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 7.0 or higher.

Do I have to start with Unit DI1 of the NEBOSH Diploma?

No, it is not required to start with unit DI1, and units can be completed in any order.

  • Provide accurate course materials and continually update and improve them.
  • Ensure tutors are qualified, knowledgeable, competent and engaging.
  • Give learners feedback on their progress and provide appropriate support.
