Health and Safety Knowledge
NEBOSH define this qualification as a “specialist sector-specific supplement to the NEBOSH International General Certificate”. This means that it doesn’t provide knowledge and understanding of general health and safety. It is therefore highly recommended that students hold the NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent before studying the NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate. If you do not have this knowledge, RRC does provide reference materials to cover this, but you should allow for a further 50 hours of study.
Experience of the Oil and Gas Industry
Over recent exams, the NEBOSH examiners have assumed students will have a wider understanding of the oil and gas industry, gained from working in the industry itself. Thus, students without this experience may have difficulties with the course, as examination questions often require the application of the knowledge delivered in the course to industry-specific scenarios.
While we cannot replace the practical knowledge gained through experience in the industry, we have developed a pre-reader to assist those without such direct experience. This outlines how oil and gas are extracted and processed, using easily understood diagrams to explain complicated topics such as drilling, refining and storage. You should allow a further 25 hours' study if you need to study the pre-reader.
The NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate is assessed by one two-hour written exam.
All of our courses contain plenty of exam practice to ensure you are fully prepared for the exam. Many of our trainers are also NEBOSH examiners, so they're well placed to provide advice and guidance throughout your course.
Available as either printed booklets or e-booklets this Guide is the essential revision tool to help you prepare for your exam. It contains a summary of each topic to refresh your knowledge, along with practice NEBOSH exam-style questions and model answers written by our expert tutors (many of whom are also NEBOSH examiners). ...more
