The CIEH Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering provides a basic introduction to food safety, making it excellent low-level induction training for those working in the catering industry. This course provides an awareness of key food safety issues and an excellent overview of food hygiene and is particularly suitable for:

  • New employees with minimal or no food safety knowledge
  • Employees handling low risk or wrapped foods
  • Front of house employees, such as waiting or check-out staff
  • Back of house employees, such as kitchen porters or warehouse staff

The CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is designed for those working in an environment where food is prepared, cooked and handled and who need a good understanding of food safety. It is ideal for anybody responsible for ensuring that the food they serve or sell is safe to eat including those who work in pubs, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, hospitals, care homes, schools, prisons, etc. It is particularly suitable for:

  • Anyone working in any environment where food is prepared, cooked or handled
  • Anyone working in the catering industry

Course Content

The CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety Awareness in Catering course covers:

  • The importance of food safety and knowledge of the systems, techniques and procedures involved
  • How to control food safety risks (personal hygiene, food storage, cooking and handling)
  • How to safely deliver quality food to customers

Assessment

The CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety Awareness in Catering course is assessed by a short multiple choice exam.
