Leading UK Health and Safety
Training Provider to Open Centre in Bahrain
In a development which is set to
have a great impact on health and safety training for those companies operating
in the Gulf region, leading UK health and safety training provider RRC, has
announced that it is to open a new centre in Bahrain - RRC Training and
Consultancy Middle East – to be headed up by one of its most senior tutors.
Being in partnership with Hasan Al
Aradi, owner of the AlManar Institute and serving the entire Gulf region, RRC
Training and Consultancy Middle East is
credited as the only UK health and safety training company which will operate a
centre in Bahrain.
The new company is the result of
RRC’s increasingly close association with the Gulf region, which the company
has been visiting for the past three years establishing contacts. One of the first contacts made was Hasan Al
Aradi, with whom RRC developed the RRC Key2Safety programme for the Gulf
region. This was specifically tailored
to meet market demand and was aimed at all levels, from beginner to advanced.
Mr Al Aradi had a vision to
develop the leading HSE training centre in the Gulf and as a result, in the
middle of 2004, RRC made the decision to establish an overseas office in the
Gulf area. Both parties have been in
discussion ever since, with a common aim to determine how to turn the vision
into a reality.
Gary Fallaize, Managing Director
of RRC, explains the rationale:
“Throughout the Gulf,
health and safety has become more and more recognised as a legitimate business
consideration, with many employers now accepting the need for protection of
their workers. In addition, although
national legislation on the subject may not yet be as prescriptive as in other
areas such as Europe, the International Labour Organisation are having an
ever-increasing influence, with the introduction of health and safety standards
worldwide. We felt the time was right for high quality specialist health and
safety training and we are very excited about this new opportunity which we
believe will make a significant difference to companies operating in the Gulf,
which have often struggled in the past to find a reputable local health and
safety training provider.”
The new company will be
introducing the Block Release NEBOSH International General Certificate, the
NEBOSH Level 4 Diploma, IOSH Courses, plus short courses and consultancy
services. Although Bahrain will be a
key market, RRC see the Bahrain centre as a pilot for the Gulf Region and will
be actively marketing their products and services throughout the region.
Both the current business and
appointed staff of the Al Manar Institute will transfer to RRC Training and
Consultancy Middle East. The newly
formed company will utilise the Institute’s existing premises, while RRC will
provide the necessary cash investments and loans to fund new premises and
projected business expansion.
The day-to-day management of the
new company will be the responsibility of the General Manager, Dave Chase, one
of RRC’s most senior tutors who will be relocating to Bahrain next month.
Supported by both local and UK tutors, a key part of his role will be to help
in the training and development of local tutors, with the five year goal of
having Bahrain-based tutors fully equipped to
teach the whole of the NEBOSH Diploma.
Dave Chase’s presence in Bahrain will also allow RRC to more effectively
support other partners in the region.
RRC are ideally suited to
providing health and safety training in the Gulf regionwith over 75 years
experience and an impeccable reputation for health and safety training in the
UK. Additionally, RRC’s Key2Safety
programme has been granted full approval by the Bahrain Government. Indeed, the success of this programme has
generated much interest throughout the Middle-East, as well as Europe, where
the programme came to the attention of ALSTOM, the global specialist in energy
and transport infrastructure. Alstom
selected RRC to both create and deliver a bespoke
corporate health and safety e-learning programme tailored specifically to the
needs of their staff based in 70 different countries. Just one example, this
demonstrates RRC’s approach and ability to cater to meet the needs of the many
multi-nationals operating in the Gulf.
Using principles of best practice along with the relevant International
Standards, such tailored programmes are applicable to a truly international
audience.
Hasan Al
Aradi concludes:
“I have a
tremendous sense of pride in the partnership with RRC. Our previous
collaborations have been both pleasurable and successful and I am thrilled to
be able to take our relationship on to a higher level.”
